GREEN PEAS SUNDAL/PATTANI SUNDAL
Legumes are always healthy and when some spices go into it it becomes tasty as well.The most popular sundal in my household is pattani or green peas sundal.This becomes a after school evening snack as well and is a good option to make on regular days as well in addition to making and offering for goddess during Navarathri celebrations.Easy and quick to make recipe of green peas sundal goes like this…

Ingredients
- 1 cup Green Peas dried
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp urad dal
- to taste salt
- pinch asafoetida a
- sprig curry leaves a
- 3 tsp coconut grated
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
FOR THE POWDER
- 2 tsp Channa dal
- 2 tsp Coriander Seeds
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp Jeera / Cumin
- 2 - 3 Chilly Red

Instructions
- Soak green peas/pattani overnight or at least for 8 hrs.
- Pressure cook for 3 whistles and strain.
- For making spice powder dry roast in a pan all the ingredients given in the for the powder table till nice aroma comes and the spices turn golden brown.Keep the flame low and ensure they donu2019t turn black as it will give a bitter taste.
- Once cooled place them in a blender.
- Grind coarsely.
- In a pan heat oil,mustrad ,urad dal,curry leaves and asafoetida.
- Once they crackle add boiled peas,turmeric powder,salt,spice powder and freshly grated coconut.Mix well.
- Wait till all mixture is combined.
- Green peas sundal/Pattani sundal is ready for offering as Neivedhyam.

Notes
- You can try adding grren chilies instead of red ones.
- Addition of coriander leaves and green chilly paste to it in place of adding spice powder mix is another option.
- If giving to kids add grated carrots with few drops of lime.
