PATTANAM PAKODA

Pattanam Pakoda is a tea time snack, crispy on the outside and very soft inside.Unlike ordinary pakoda it is made with roasted gram flour and rice flour with onions and spices.I have also added powdered peanuts for crunchiness.Ordinary Onion Pakoda uses gram flour and rice flour.I don’t know why it got it’s name but I presume it is because it is sold in city shops.Pattanam is city in Tamil so that’s the story.Anyway I made it because I love all kinds of pakodas and my husband is also fond of them.Unlike other pakodas this is slightly round and bigger in shape….

BROWN RICE KHEER

I have never tried kheer with brown rice though I make rice based payasam or kheer during festivities or when guests drop over.Brown Rice Kheer was a recipe I stumpled upon when I searching for recipes using brown rice.Brown rice is actually whole grain rice with the outer hull removed. It is not polished and has a nutty flavour and is chewier than white rice hence considered very healthy. It has a good source of magnesium, phosphorous, selenium and Vitamin B6.Also, jaggery has a good source of iron and is much better option than sugar.I made this recipe long back during winter.I…

SET DOSA

Set Dosa is nothing but Dosa with poha or flattenened rice, raw rice and urad dal carefully ground into a smooth mixture which when poured is slightly thick than the usual dosas and served in stacks of two or three. The dosa is super spongy and fluffy and is highly filling yet light on the stomach.I have tried thiis dosa many a times here in Bangalore whenever i get a chance to eat out.It is served with Vegetable Sagu and Coconut Chutney. You can prepare this dosa with the normal dosa batter too,but you won’t get the fluffy or spongy texture which is…
