Boil potatoes in a pressure cooker and mash well.In a wide bowl add boiled potatoes, besan, rice flour, garam masala powder, chat masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, asafoetida and salt.
Knead well to form a soft dough.If it is a little sticky add 1tsp oil and knead again.
Heat oil well and take a big ball of dough in a omapodi acchu/press and directly squezee the mixture on to the hot oil.
When done on one side flip it over and wait till the sound subsides.Drain in a paper tissue.
