  1. In a pan dry roast foxtail millet.
  2. Add moong dal and roast till nice aroma comes.
  3. Transfer both these in a vessel and add water.
  4. Add salt and asafoetida and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  5. Open and mash the mixture.
  6. In a pan add oil,ghee,pepper,cumin,cashew nuts and curry leaves.
  7. Roast till cashews turn golden brown.
  8. Add to this pan the cooked foxtail and moong dal mixture.
  9. Mix well till it gets amalgamated.
  10. Foxtail Millet is ready to be served.Serve with chutney or sambhar.I served with Drumstick Sambhar.

You can make a sweet version of this pongal.

Adding grated ginger enhances the taste.
