Jeera Poli is a maida based deep fried sweet immerrsed in sugar syrup. It is made during Boghi, Tamil New Year and festivities.

Ingredients

  1. In a bowl add maida and rava.
  2. Add water and ghee and knead to a soft dough and rest for half an hour.
  3. Make a small ball out of the dough.
  4. Flatten it and make small pooris.
  5. Fold it now like this.
  6. Now fold again to form a triangle.
  7. Flatten it again like this.
  8. Heat oil and fry the poori.
  9. Take it out once golden brown.
  10. Make a sugar syrup with sugar and water. Also add cardamom powder.
  11. Add orange food colour.
  12. Wait till you get one string consistency.
  13. Add the pooris carefully.
  14. Make sure the pooris are well coated and soaked in the sugar syrup.
  15. Store in a tight container.
  16. Enjoy it.
Recipe Notes

You can add any nuts of your choice. You can also sprinkle some dessicated coconut on top. Be sure to keep the polis seperate, as they tend to stick together in the sugar syrup.
