RED BEAN PEAS PULAO/LUNCH BOX IDEA/RICE VARIETIES
Red beans peas pulao is a beautiful combination of green and red colours and also has a lot of essential nutrients loaded in it.I had a small packet of fresh red beans lying in my fridge for a while and i made this for me and my daughter as hubby was out of station last week and MIL was fasting.I made red bean salad for her,the recipe of which will be posting soon.This red beans contains minerals,vitamins and proteins in abundance.As we all know these are all important for a complete meal and we enjoyed it a lot.Red beans can be a rich source of fibre and can be helpful in combating cancer.This pulao can be made in no time and can be a meal in itself.Let’s more over to the recipe.

- 1 cup Basmati rice
- 1/4 cup Red Beans
- fistful Green Peas a
- 1 Onion
- 1 Bay Leaf
- Cinnamon Stick a small piece
- 1 tsp Jeera / Cumin
- 1 Chilly Green
- Ginger a tiny bit
- 2 tsp Oil
- to taste Salt

- Soak basmati rice for half an hour.In a kadai add oil and when it gets heated add jeera, bay leaf and cinnamon and fry till nice aroma comes and they turn golden brown.
- Chop onions finely and add half the quantity mentioned.Fry till pink.
- Add the remaining chopped onion,green chlly and ginger to the mixer to grind.
- Grind smoothly.
- Add the ground onion chilly mix to sauted onions and fry well.
- Add red beans and peas.
- Add soaked basmati rice to the fried onions,red beans and peas.Add salt.
- Add water.
- Pressure cook till 3 whistles all the above contents.
- Red Beans Peas Pulao is ready.
- Serve this with onion raita, papad or chips.
Notes
I have added peas just for colour, you can avoid it if you don't have stock.
If using dry red beans soak overnight.
I have used minimal masala, you can add garam masala while frying onions.
For extra taste add a spoon of ghee on top while serving.
